Istanbul International Ballet Competition will be held in on 8 - 13 September 2008. This new competition is hosted by the Directorate General of State Opera and Ballet Festival and Organization Office. The Junior category is open to dancers aged 15 - 19 years; the Senior category is open to dancers aged 19 - 26 years. Prizes: Istanbul Grand Prix 6000 euros; Juniors: 1st prize 3000 euros; 2nd prize 2000 euros; 3rd prize 1000 euros; Seniors: 1st prize 4000 euros; 2nd prize 3000 euros; 3rd prize 2000 euros; Jury Prize 2000 euros; Dance Europe Outstanding Dancer Award for an outstanding young dancer. Aarhus International Choreography Competition - Dance icons of the future. The Aarhus International Choreography Competition is the first of its kind in Aarhus and Denmark. Aimed at emerging choreographers, the purpose is to find and develop new professional talents - dance icons of the future - within contemporary dance. The competition is a biennale from 12 - 14 June 2008. Participants will have an opportunity to create new networks with other groups of dancers and choreographers from other countries. The brand new choreographic centre Archauz ®, A.D. Jens Bjerregaard, is the host of the competition. Archauz ® is the first centre of its kind in the Nordic countries and has its home in the centre of Aarhus, the second City in Denmark. Archauz ® is a vibrant centre for dance and is a host for the cutting edge contemporary dance. Applications have now closed for this year's competition. www.aicc.dk.

Youth America Grand Prix is open to students aged 9 - 19, from all countries, the YAGP is the world¹s largest student scholarship ballet competition and has the participation of the following schools: The Ailey School, American Academy of Ballet, ABT Summer Intensive, Boston Ballet School, Briansky Saratoga Ballet, The Harid Conservatory, Houston Ballet¹s Ben Stevenson Academy, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at ABT, Joffrey Ballet School, North Carolina School of the Arts, The Nutmeg Conservatory, The Rock School for Dance Education, San Francisco Ballet School, Steps on Broadway, The Kirov Academy, Washington School of Ballet, Australian Ballet School, Canada¹s National Ballet School, Canada¹s Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Hamburg Ballet School, John Cranko School of Stuttgart Ballet, La Scala Ballet School, Munich Ballet Academy, New Zealand School of Dance, Princess Grace Academy of Classical Dance, Royal Ballet School and Vienna State Opera Ballet School. No Ballet Choreography Competition, under the artistic direction of Juliane Rössler. The third edition of this choreography competition will take place in Ludwigshafen from 1 - 3 May 2008. 1st prize 7,500¤, 2nd prize 5,000¤, 3rd prize 2,500, audience prize 1,000¤. The jury will be Christian von Götz - opera director; Hansgünther Heyme - artistic director; Susanne Linke - choreographer; Klaus Obermaier - composer, media artist; Graziela Padilla - choreographer, dance teacher; Hartmut Regitz - dance critic; Juliane Rössler - choreographer and Darrel Toulon - choreographer. New Generation international youth ballet competition is being held for the 2nd time in Budapest from 24 - 28 May 2008. The competition is open to students aged 13-20, in classical and contemporary categories, from all countries. Prizes includes several scholarships and contracts.
